While no band is identical, these 10 311-like bands share a similar sound and feel to their music. Some are a little louder, some are little softer, but all share the Reggae/ska sound. Put on your head phones and give these bands a shot.

  1. Sublime. Topping the list of 311-like bands is the group believed to be responsible for influencing 311. The California band was the first to get the distinctive sound on the airwaves.
  2. Pepper. This Hawaiian based band makes the list of 311-like bands. There crazy antics started way back in 1996, but the band saw no success until their 2006 single "No Control" got radio play.
  3. The Expendables. This entry on the list of 311-like bands has a cult-like following in their home town of Santa Cruz, California. The surfer attitude and Reggae sound keep the duo busy with shows year-around.
  4. Jimmies Chicken Shack. This Florida based band makes the list of 311-like bands. These guys named their Reggae/ska band after the restaurant where they all worked.
  5. Taproot. This one of the 311-like bands got their first fame on WWE's (World Wrestling Entertainment) pay-per-view event "Unforgiven" in 2005. The band had been rocking together since 1995.
  6. Filter. This chart topping band hits the list of 311-like bands. This Alternative/Ska band has been pumping out music since 1993 and is still together as of 2010.
  7. Slightly Stoopid. On the list of 311-like bands, this one may be the funniest. This band can't seem to take anything serious except their music.
  8. Long Beach Dub All-stars. This entry on the list of 311-like bands was formed out of tragedy. The suicide of Brad Nowell left  the remaining members of Sublime to form a new band. Long Beach Dub All-stars was the result.
  9. The Dirty Heads. Out of Southern California, these surfers make the list of 311-like bands. Their upbeat tunes leave the Emo sound to someone else.
  10. BallyHoo. When this entry on the list of 311-like bands couldn't find a label to sign them, they created their own. Their Reggae/Sonic sound is pleasing to the 311 lover.
