If you want to make two huge Valentine cookies for dessert, you will need:

  • 1/2  cup butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  1. Grease two heart-shaped pans. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Beat the butter and brown sugar together until creamy. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  3. Mix in the other dry ingredients. Add the chocolate and nuts and mix well.
  4. Divide the dough into two parts. Spread one portion in each pan.
  5. Bake for ten to fifteen minutes. Remove from the oven and cool completely before removing from the pan.

If you want to make truffles for a Valentine dessert, you will need:

  • 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 4 tablespoons sweet butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 7 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Grand Marnier
  • Cocoa powder
  1. Grate the chocolate. Melt it in a double boiler with the butter. Add the cream
  2. Gradually stir in the powdered sugar and Grand Marnier. Cover and refrigerate for twelve to 24 hours.
  3. Remove from the refrigerator. Take one teaspoonful and roll it in your palms to make a ball. Roll the ball in cocoa powder.

To make Linzer hearts for dessert, you will need:

  • 3 sticks of butter, softened
  • 1 ¾ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 cups walnuts, finely grated
  • 1/2 cup raspberry preserves
  1. Cream the butter and one cup of the sugar together. Beat in the egg.
  2. Sift the flour and cornstarch together. Add to the butter mixture and mix well. Add the walnuts and mix together.
  3. Make a ball out of the dough and put into the refrigerator for four hours.
  4. Roll out the dough to a 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out hearts with a cookie cutter. Using a smaller cutter cut a heart inside the cookie for half of the dough.
  5. Place cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet. Let chill while you preheat the oven.
  6. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for ten to fifteen minutes, until lightly browned.
  7. While they are warm spread the jam on half of the cookies. Top with the cutout cookies.
  8. Sift powdered sugar over the cookies lightly. Let cool and serve for dessert.

If you want to make cheesecake for dessert, you will need:

  • 1 graham cracker pie crust
  • 2 8-ounce packages of cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • 1 8-ounce container of whipped topping
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can pie filling, any flavor
  1. Mix the cream cheese, lemon juice and topping together. Pour into the crust.
  2. Refrigerate until set. Top with pie filling of your choice. Cherry is nice for a Valentine dessert.

If you want to make this pretty strawberry gelatin for dessert, you will need:

  • 1 large package of strawberry gelatin
  • 1 16-ounce package frozen crushed strawberries
  • 1 12-ounce can of crushed pineapple
  • 1 cup pecan, chopped
  • 1 8-ounce package of cream cheese
  • 1 8-ounce container of whipped topping
  1. Prepare the gelatin. Use half of the water called for on the package directions.
  2. Add strawberries, pineapple and pecans and mix together. Place half of the gelatin mixture in a mold. Refrigerate until set.
  3. Mix together the cream cheese and whipped topping. Spread on top of the chilled gelatin.
  4. Pour the remaining gelatin mixture into the mold. Chill until set.
