Learn how to make 5 healthy winter recipes. Winter healthy recipes  include organic and natural foods and not foods that are processed or packaged. Instead of sitting down and being bored with your next meal, prepare one of these very delicious 5 healthy winter recipes.

1. Healthy Ground Sirloin and Cabbage

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground sirloin
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped fine
  • 1/2 head cabbage, 6 cups average
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger, ground

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet brown the ground sirloin with the chopped onion.  Add in the minced garlic and chopped cabbage.
  2. Season the whole cabbage mixture with the spices. Add a bit of water if necessary.
  3. Cook the cabbage till it is wilted, but still slightly crunchy. Serve this healthy winter recipe on a large plate with cucumber and tomatoes on the side.

Note: Ground turkey, chicken or bison can be substituted for a healthier dinner solution.

2. Healthy Tuna Salad

Ingredients:

  • 1 can tuna (not white)
  • 1/3 cup chopped broccoli florets
  • 1/2 apple, chopped and peeled
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon coriander, chopped
  • Salt and pepper

Directions:

  1. Drain the tuna of all the liquid in the can. Rinse the tuna under filtered water and let it drain.
  2. Place the broccoli, apple, onion and tuna in a bowl. With a fork mix together.
  3. Add in the yogurt, coriander, salt and pepper. Mix together well.
  4. Chill the tuna salad before eating. Serve this healthy winter recipe on a whole wheat bun with lettuce and tomato slices.

Note:  This same healthy tuna salad can be used to top a regular green salad.  Just place a circle of tuna in the middle of the salad and top with your favorite dressing.

3. Broccoli Soup

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups broccoli florets, chopped
  • 1 potato, peeled and chopped
  • 2 carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 1 onion, peeled and chopped
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 cups almond milk (recipe below)
  • 1 ounce goat cheese

Directions:

  1. In a large pan put the broccoli, potato, carrots, onion and the broth. Bring to boil and then reduce the heat.
  2. Cook for 30 to 35 minutes or until all the veggies are soft and done. Let the veggies cool down.
  3. Place the cooled soup mixture in a large blender. Slowly pulse the veggies.
  4. Blend the veggies to a complete mixed pulp. Place the veggies back in the original soup pan.
  5. Add in the almond milk, oregano, salt and pepper. Bring this healthy winter soup to a boil and then add in the shredded goat cheese.

4. Healthy Pineapple and Banana Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pineapple chunks, frozen
  • 2 bananas, sliced and frozen
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Directions:

  1. In a large blender put the yogurt, milk, honey, pineapple and banana.  Pulse slowly until the fruit is mixed well.
  2. Blend on high speed until all the ingredients are mixed in.  Serve this healthy winter recipe in a large tall glass with a straw.

5. Healthy Almond Milk

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almonds, peeled
  • 4 cups water

Directions:

  1. Place the one cup of almonds in one cup of water and soak over night. The next morning drain the almonds.
  2. Add the almonds to the blender along with two cups of water. Blend for two minutes.
  3. Add in the remaining two cups of water and blend for two more minutes. Drain this healthy winter almond milk and use only the liquid.

Note: Walnuts or cashews can be used in this healthy nut milk recipe also.
