Looking for the best skateboard knee pads? You know how your mother always told you to skateboard prepared? That means helmet, elbow pads, wrist guards and knee pads. Yes, knee pads. Even if they're not your favorite fashion accessory in the world, a big gash in your knee isn't, either. So check out the best skateboard knee pads for a set that are cool, comfortable and un-clumsy.

  1. Mesh Bag Knee Pads. There's no sense in bringing knee pads to the skate park if they don't come with something to carry them in. So buy skateboard knee pads that come in their own little mesh bag. That way, you'll never lose them.
  2. Second Skin Kevlar Knee Gaskets. Surprisingly not as expensive as the real stuff, this Kevlar material is awesome for skateboarding. Never again do you have to worry about bulky padding, as this stuff is nearly form-fitting to knees.
  3. Coolmax Gel Kneepads. No, it's not Dr. Scholls. These gellin' pads give you an extra set of protection with gel inserts, and look pretty cool to boot. These guys come with elbow pads and wrist guards, too.
  4. Boneshields. These red, silver and black knee pads are great for both roller derby and skateboarding. In fact, they tend to look a little like laser tag gear. Get them in a deluxe or combo pack for matching elbow and wrist guards.
  5. Rector Protector. Just your basic knee pads. They're old school, so if you feel like rocking out to some '80's or '90's music, feel free to do so. Just don't turn the Milli Vanilli up too loud.
  6. Double Down Knee Pads. These jobbies are designed specifically to be worn incognito. In other words, you can wear them underneath your clothes and no one will notice how much protection you have. Plus, they're super form-fitting, so no extra padding sticks out.
  7. Protec Park Pads. These are some of the best skateboard knee pads on the market. They have a little more strapping on top and less on the bottom so you don't get weighed down on the board. They're perfect for nasty spills, too.
  8. Protective Shorts. These shorts have built-in skateboard knee pads and can be worn underneath virtually any piece of clothing. Including swimming trunks, if you wish. They've got a draw string waist, so they fit many sizes.
