- The past. No matter how hard a person tries, the past seems to catch up with them. Perhaps it was a past relationships, or maybe it was how they were raised, either way these bad habits and insecurities that they learned and fostered, have now crept up on them, and they are affecting their current relationship. While it is impossible to run from you past, you can prevent it from negatively impacting your relationship by recognizing that it exists. First, they are family, so one of you is probably going to love them unconditionally, no matter what they say or do.
