Knowing the most common problems with relationships is a major key to having a committed, happy, and healthy relationship. Every relationship has its problems. Any one who tells you differently has never been in a relationship. So, if having problems is so common, why are some couples so happy, and others miserable? The key is that some people are better at recognizing their problems. This then helps them deal with them in a healthy and straightforward manner.
- Communication. The number one most common problem that couples in relationships experience is communication, or lack there of. When two people fail to communicate, they tend to build up a lot of unresolved conflict and issues. They become upset because one person in the relationship has certain expectations, and the other fails to meet them. The problem is that neither party has communicated that they either have these expectations, or that these expectations bother them.
- Money. Money and financial stress is another major problem in relationships. Either there is not enough of it, or one person contributes more financially than the other person. To avoid this common problem in relationships, try setting a budget. This way, you can alleviate some financial stress, and there is no longer any question about who is spending whose money.
- The past. No matter how hard a person tries, the past seems to catch up with them. Perhaps it was a past relationships, or maybe it was how they were raised, either way these bad habits and insecurities that they learned and fostered, have now crept up on them, and they are affecting their current relationship. While it is impossible to run from you past, you can prevent it from negatively impacting your relationship by recognizing that it exists. Talking about it with your current partner or with professional counselor can always help.
- Family. Family members are a huge source of stress and can be big burden on any relationship. In order to prevent it from becoming a common problem in your relationship, you have to keep a few things in mind. First, they are family, so one of you is probably going to love them unconditionally, no matter what they say or do. However, you also have to keep in mind that your partner is just as important as they are.
