Drake Bio

It seems that the best way to begin a Drake bio is with the date and place of birth and perhaps his full name. Aubrey Drake Graham was born on October 24th, 1986 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Drake was born into a musical family. His father was a drummer with Jerry Lee Lewis, and his two uncles were also pretty serious in the field of music.

Drake was not raised by his father, however. His parents divorced when he was five years old, and he lived with his mother in a wealthy Toronto neighborhood. Drake did not study music in his early years. Instead, he studied acting in high school.

It was not until 2006 when Drake began revealing his musical talent to the world. In collaboration with other musicians, Drake self produced an album called "Room for Improvement" and released it on MySpace and through his website. The album sold 6,000 hard copies that year.

2007 was an even more critical year when Drake released his second album called "Comeback Season." "Replacement Girl," a single from that album, was featured on MTV and other networks. Trey Songz was a prominent vocalist in the album.

Drake didn't really hit it big until 2009, after the release of "So Far Gone." "Best I Ever Had," a single from the album, hit double platinum that year. This got the attention of a few record labels, including Lil Wayne's label, "Young Money Entertainment." Drake signed with them by the summer of that year.

Drake's debut album after signing is called "Thank Me Later," which was released after the top selling "Over" single. "Thank Me Later" went platinum in 2010. Also in 2010 was the release of the "Take Care" album, which has had its share of success.

Drake's acting career began long before his music career. Drake played Jimmy Brooks in "Degrassi: The Next Generation" beginning in 2001. He left the show in 2009 after 138 episodes.

At the time of this writing, he is in the prime of his career. Therefore, Drake's bio is always evolving.
