How To Build Ramps For Skateboards
Learning how to build ramps for skateboards is not too hard. You will need to know how to operate certain tools, and you will also need some supplies before you can begin, but once you are all set up, you may get to work. Ramps are some of the items that provide you with the most fun while you are skateboarding, so take your time, and make them carefully. Following is some advice on how to build ramps for skateboards.
How to Build Ramps for Skateboards: Materials for Each Ramp
- Plywood sheet
- Two by four boards
- Hammer
- Nails
- Powered Saw
Steps
- First, buy all of the supplies that you will need to begin. Any home improvement or construction supply store should be able to help you out.
-
Next, decide how big you want your ramp to be. Cut the plywood sheet to the size of the skate-able, top part of the ramp, according to your size preference.
- Next, build a sloped frame, which the plywood will be nailed to. Determine how high you want the back of the ramp to be, and then use the Pythagorean theorem to find the length of the base (the length of the plywood, squared, minus the height of the back, squared, gives you the square of the base length, so find the square root of this value).
- Next, using two of the two by fours, cut to the length of the base, nail two other two by fours, cut to the length of the width of the sheet of plywood, between the ends, to make a flat rectangle, which will rest on the ground. Cut a few more of these width boards, and nail them to the sides of the base, to add support.
-
Cut two boards to the length of the height at the back, and nail these, upright, to the back corners of the rectangular flat frame.
- Nail two by fours, cut to the length of the plywood, from these height boards to the front of the rectangle, as the hypotenuse sides, so that you have a frame that is rectangular when viewed from the top, and triangular, as the ramp will be, when viewed from the bottom. Nail the plywood onto the top, sloped part of the ramp frame. Now, you should have a nice, homemade skateboarding ramp, and you can use it whenever you want.
Learning how to build ramps for skateboards is fairly easy. All that you need are some basic tools and supplies, and you can have a ramp that provides you with a lot of homemade skateboarding fun before you know it.
