Look no further as this article will show you a step-by-step method of how to connect your Wii to the Internet.  Before we jump right into this, lets determine whether you prefer to use a wireless or wired connection.  Your Wii will not allow you to connect with a wired connection right out of the box, so a wireless method is preferable but not the only option.

Wired Connection:
  1. Purchase the Wii LAN Adapter
  2. Connect one end of your ethernet cable to your router or main internet source.
  3. Connect the other end of your ethernet cable to your Wii LAN Adaptor
  4. Turn off your Wii
  5. Insert the Wii LAN Adapter on of the Wii's USB ports.
  6. Turn on your Wii console and navigate to the main menu.
  7. Click on the 'Wii button' in the lower left corner of the screen.
  8. On the next screen, click on 'Wii Settings'.
  9. In the Wii System Settings, scroll to the right until you reach the second screen of options.
  10. When you get there, click the 'Internet' button.
  11. Select 'Connection Settings'.
  12. Choose 'None'.
  13. Click on 'Wired Connection'.

Now that you know the wired way to connect your Wii to the internet, lets go over how to connect your Wii using a wireless connection.  You may notice there are many similarities in the process.

  1. Click on the 'Wii button' in the lower left corner of the screen.
  2. On the next screen, click on 'Wii Settings'.
  3. In the Wii System Settings, scroll to the right until you reach the second screen of options.
  4. When you get there, click the 'Internet' button.
  5. Select 'Connection Settings'.Choose 'None'.
  6. Click on 'Wireless Connection'.
  7. Then "Search for an Access Point"
  8. Choose the Access Point that you own or want to connect to and confirm by pressing OK.  ***If your connection falls into the "Internet 3" or "Internet 4" category then the Access Point requires a password.  This password would be the same if your computer prompted you.
  9. Select 'Save' and then 'OK' to save your Access Point.
