If learning how to find a job fast seems like an overwhelming and daunting task, read on. In order to find a job fast, you may have to revert back to some old-school job-search techniques.

  1. Utilize employment agencies. Employment agencies can be called a number of different names, such as job-search firms, job consulting firms and search consulting firms, just to name a few. Regardless of the name, employment agencies can help you find a job fast. These folks have your best interests in mind. Why? Because they don't make any significant money until they get you a job offer and you accept. So, take advantage of this.
  2. Search the help-wanted ads. With the advent of the internet, searching the newspaper employment section may seem archaic, but don't overlook this resource. There may be fewer eyes looking at the newspaper these days, which may give you a leg up on your competition.
  3. Knock on doors. This is better suited for small businesses than large corporations. Either way, you may end up being in the right place at the right time and be able to get a job fast. Dress professionally, as you may end up interviewing right there and then. Make sure you have plenty of resumes and cover letters on hand when you embark on this endeavor.
  4. Tell everyone you know. Network with your friends and family by telling them that you need to find a job fast. Sometimes companies prefer to hire someone who knows someone. If the company needs to hire someone quickly, they may just bring you in for an interview rather than going through the slow process of posting an ad, reviewing resumes, setting up interviews and interviewing.
  5. Use the internet. If you want to find a job fast, it may be a good idea to skip the large corporation job postings. The employment process in these larger corporations is often quite slow; this is mainly due to the size and the approval process. If you find job postings for smaller companies, it may be easier to land a position more quickly. Sometimes you can tell from the job posting whether it is going to be a quick hire. Some ads may say "Looking to hire immediately." Some are even more personal, stating things like "I need you yesterday." Often times, the postings online are more for a quick fill.
