Since the game "Doom 3" is an old arcade game with intermediate graphics, we are able to key you in on how to play "Doom 3" online with dial up. When "Doom" was released in 2004, the graphics were considered a breakthrough, but now in 2011, the graphics and platform during online play are easily withheld by slower internet connections such as dial up.

  1. Purchase and install "Doom 3". Purchase the game and install it on your computer. The faster your computer itself, the better off the game will run. Even if you have a fast internet connection, the game will run slow if your computer is, so if your computer is sluggish, try uninstalling programs you do not use, remove cookies and browsing history and exit out of programs that you are not using at the moment. Messengers tend to slow down a computer faster than anything else.
  2. Direct Connection. Hooking up a dial up connection to a WiFi router has been growing in popularity recently. This is great for some things such as handheld consoles and mobile phones, but it it horrible for online platform gaming. Make your internet connection as direct as possible by connecting the internet cord directly to your computer.
  3. Change lobbies. In reality, you are not the only gamer in the world that doesn't have an amazing internet connection. When joining multi player matches online, if other people have slow connections as well, the entire game is going to "lag," or be slow and choppy. When attempting to join a good match,  try join a few to know how good it can get before devoting yourself to a single lobby for too long.
  4. Clear your Internet. Make sure that there are no other devices or people on your Internet as well. Other users will slow down the entire network, if you have one.
