How To Start Running In The Morning
Studies show that if you can learn how to start running in the morning, you will be more likely to stick with running. It is thought by some track coaches that most serious runners run in the morning because there aren't any excuses in the morning. There aren't any meetings to go to and you aren't too full from lunch. The most difficult part of learning how to start running in the morning is the act of getting out of bed. Here are some ways to help you get started running in the morning:
In order to learn about how to start running in the morning, you will need:
- An alarm clock
- Adequate running shoes
- 10 Minutes
- Set your running shoes and clothing out the night before. When you are tired, the fewer roadblocks the better. If your clothing is already laid out for you, finding something to wear is one less step you have to take to get out the door. Additionally, seeing your running shoes might help you get motivated to run.
- Find a morning running partner. If possible, you should meet someone for your morning run. If you have to meet someone else, you will be less likely to skip your morning run. The time will also seem to go by faster if you run with a partner.
- Trick your brain into running. If you are having one of those days where you just can't get out of bed for your morning run, tell yourself you can go on a short run. Give yourself permission to only run for 10 minutes, or one mile. After the 10 minutes is up, you will likely want to continue. Even if you want to stop, 10 minutes is better than nothing.
- Don't think, just run. You can come up with hundreds of reasons to sleep in. Don't stay in bed long enough to think about not running. With your clothes already laid out, all your have to do is get up. Instead of hitting the snooze button, get up when the alarm goes off the first time and you are on your way to becoming a morning runner.
- Think about how good your will feel after your morning run. Getting your run out of the way early feels good, you don't have to stress out about how you will get your run in. You also start your day with more energy. Think about how you will feel after the run is over instead of how hard it is to pull off those covers.
