If you're going to make your website the best it can be, you need to learn how to write a bibliography for a website. Writing a bibliography for a website will give your space on the internet a little more credence because you can back up the claims you're making with legitimately researched information. The following steps will help you write a bibliography for a website and help you prove your detractors wrong!

In order to write a bibliography for a website, you're going to need:

  • Multiple sources
  • A computer with an internet connection
  • A guide to MLA citation
  1. Compile all of your sources in one space. The first part of writing a bibliography for a website is taking all of your information and putting it a single space. Create a new page on your website and simply title it "Bibliography."
  2. Start listing your sources alphabetically. This is the de facto method of writing a bibliography using MLA style. Following the style guide, be sure to only use printed publications and legitimate website publications. With regard to the latter example, only .edu, .org, ,gov, or news-related sites should be used for your citations. Personal blogs and other sites will not cut it for your website's bibliography.
  3. If you want, make a works cited page. This is different from your website's bibliography, but it is also a good supplement. Everytime you want to cite something, put a super-scripted number above it with a link to a page titled "Works Cited." On here, you will have the bibliography entries from your "Bibliography" page, but this time in the order that you used them on your website. This is another great way to increase your site's legitimacy in a more palatable way than a simple bibliographic listing.

Learning how to write a bibliography for a website is a great way to show off your research skills and back up any data for what you've written. Whether you have a blog or an informative website, it always helps to have a bibliography to show that you're not just making stuff up when you post it on the internet.
